The Ramones of the Ska Scene- Performing Ska music around the world for over 24 years!
The Toasters, America's longest running Ska band are embarking on another nonstop 50-city swing through the USA and Canada for the 2006 WINTER SKA BRAWL TOUR. Several stops on the Ska Brawl Tour will feature guest performances from national acts such as Go Jimmy Go, Satori (ex- RX Bandits), Westbound Train, and Mustard Plug. Unlike most touring acts, there's no rest while on the road with The Toasters. The band had just spent studio in Valencia (Spain) laying down tracks for the You're Gonna Pay single which was out early 2006 on the Megalith and Moonska World labels. They will then head immediately to the states where they'll be playing every day from January 18th through March 11th
Ska is definitely back and there is no better proponent than these icons of the scene, The Toasters! They've carved out their own niche in history, amassing along the way a humongous catalog of music, including 15 albums and DVDs, countless videos, singles and EPs and innumerable compilation appearances. Just to honorably metion a couple 2002's eagerly anticipated new album "Enemy of the System" was released on California's Asian Man Records records in the USA and on Grover records in Europe. "In Retrospect" featuring The Toasters greatest hits was released on Stomp Records/Union Label Group in 2003.
Consummate outsiders, they've turned down major record deals from the likes of Danny Goldberg and Polygram and have opted instead to run down their own indie track, with the help of people like Joe Jackson who is Buck's mentor and has produced several album sessions. The band has logged a staggering 4,000+ live concert appearances on stages all around the world. In 1997 Billboards lead article dubbed them New York's Ska Pioneers. With their eclectic, instantly recognizable and idiosyncratic sound the group has been branded as the "Miles Davis of Ska" and the "Ramones of Ska" alike.
For the past 24 years The Toasters have been showcasing their 2-Tone inspired sound to the world and show no signs of quitting anytime soon. Lead by British expatriate Rob "Bucket" Hingley who formed the Toasters in 1982 and later founded Moon Ska Records which grew into the largest independent Ska label in the world. Now he's at it again, launching Megalith Records internationally with offices in the USA and Europe.
Buck's bench is deep enough to make Manchester United jealous and this year´s platoon of elite Ska-commandos is going out as (the power) 5-piece: Bucket, band founder and major songwriter, is on guitar and vocals, Ace is on drums, Jason Nwagbaraocha is on bass and chats, Jeff Richey on sax and Chris Rhodes (Bosstones) is on the t-bone.
Now for the latest we can all look forward to the release of "One more Bullet" in spring 2007.
